Mob escapes with dozens of weapons after smashing truck through Florida shop front

A mob of thieves raided a gun shop in Tampa, Florida in the early hours of Tuesday morning, in footage captured by the store’s surveillance cameras.

The group drove through the front of the store with a large vehicle, and then back out of the smashed entrance.

The thieves in hoods and masks then piled into the shop,  stealing a large number of firearms and ammunition.

While it is unclear how many are in the group, at least fifteen seem to be in the mob, smashing their way through glass cabinets and behind the shop’s tables.

A $10,000 (£7,900) reward has been offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in response to the raid.

Major Kristi Poore of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, who has jurisdiction over the area that contains the shop, said "We're very concerned. The guns are in the wrong hands, and it's dangerous."

According to ATF figures, gun store raids had risen by 28% between 2013 and 2015, with over 12,000 guns stolen within that period.
