Mob boss Mr Flashy to face day in court over stolen booze rap

Under-threat mob boss Mr Flashy and his close associate are facing a day in court on theft charges, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

The Finglas kingpin will appear at Dublin District Court in the coming weeks over handling stolen booze from a well-known city centre restaurant. The incident happened on June 13, when a third henchman went in behind the bar of the plush eatery and nabbed two bottles of wine.

He then handed the drink to Mr Flashy and his pal – who is being blamed for the murder of rival thug James Whelan in April – outside the restaurant. Gardai investigating the incident identified the three suspects after it was reported to them.

Five days later, Mr Flashy and his associate were arrested after being spotted by investigators in the city centre. The pair were questioned before they were station charged and they will now have to publicly appear in the Criminal Courts of Justice later this month to answer to the raps.

The man who actually lifted the wine is a Kinahan cartel associate who is a suspect in petrol bombing Whelan’s innocent mother’s home in May, after her son had been blasted to death. He has gone to ground and has yet to be arrested over the theft of the wine.

Just two days after both of their arrests over the theft incident, Mr Flashy and his close associate were targeted in a botched hit attempt on June 20.

On that occasion, the pair were in a taxi travelling in Finglas which came under fire. Both men escaped by running through a nearby green area.
