Mo Salah stuns Liverpool fans at local pub just hours after Champions League defeat

Mohamed Salah delighted punters today as he paid a visit to a local Liverpool pub.

The Egyptian was spotted filming at Dovedale Towers on Penny Lane - just hours after playing for Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

Salah appeared to be in high spirits as he demonstrated his acting skills, despite last night's 3-0 defeat to the Catalan side at Camp Nou.

The ECHO understands the Liverpool player was filming an advert for an oil company, which will be shown in Arab countries.

Dozens of fans arrived at the pub to get a glimpse of the 'Egyptian King', who was dressed in a casual but smart ensemble of a brown leather jacket, blue jeans and Gucci trainers.

Dovedale Towers owner Mike Girling, who is a lifelong Liverpool fan, said: "We were delighted to welcome Mo and the filming crew and it's great that they chose Dovedale Towers.

"The venue has so much amazing history and I'm really pleased we could help show Liverpool at its best to the world."

Filming is said to have taken place mostly inside, with a few scenes shot in the beer garden.

At one stage Salah also needed a stunt double, suggesting there could have been some advanced action sequences.

Earlier today, the pub told followers on Twitter: "Closed today whilst we do a bit of filming. Back open as per from 12 tomorrow."

This isn't the first time Salah has partaken in a spot of acting.

Last year, he made an appearance behind the counter of a chippy on Breck Road and later visited The Dips in  New Brighton , The Park Pub in Anfield and Derry Mathews boxing academy.

It is believed he was filming part of an advert for Egyptian TV.

Following today's appearance, Salah will be focusing on taking the Reds one step closer to the Madrid Champions League final after last night's loss.

Luis Suarez scored his side's first goal last night after an assist from Jordi Alba. This was followed by a tap in second goal from Lionel Messi in the 75th minute.

A free-kick was then awarded to Barcelona after Fabinho was booked for a tackle on Messi towards the end of the match.

Despite the 30-yard distance, Messi curled a long range shot perfectly into the back of the net.

The two sides will meet again at Anfield on Tuesday, May 7.
