Mo Salah’s shot gets denied by Manchester City’s absurd goal-line clearance

Defender Kyle Walker essentially saved the game for Manchester City in its Community Shield win over Liverpool. Manchester City came away with a win in penalties (5-4) after regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw.

With the game tied in the 91st minute, Mohamed Salah looked like he was on the verge of netting a game-winner past keeper Claudio Bravo Muñoz. Salah shot the ball, but Muñoz got his hand on it. Salah followed with a header on the ricochet. And as the ball bounced toward the back of the net, Walker flew in with a bicycle kick that cleared the ball off the goal line and helped send the game into penalties.

Here’s a look at the ridiculous play from a few angles.

Walker discussed what the win meant to him after the match, via AFP.

“It’s the first trophy you can win, for me growing up this was a big one. It starts off the season and hopefully we can replicate what we did last season.”
