Mo Salah dresses up as Maui from Disney's Moana to celebrate daughter's fifth birthday

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah pulled out all the stops for his daughter's fifth birthday by dressing up in a bold leaf skirt to portray Maui from the Disney hit movie Moana.

The Egyptian star shared the snaps of the snazzy outfit on his social media, along with the caption "I, Maui, bring to you Moana! Happy birthday my princess. #Birthday #AmazingFather."

In the pictures you can see Salah posing with his daughter, who appears to be dressed as the eponymous Moana, in his living room.

Salah is wearing a leaf skirt and a green Hawaiian flower neck garland, and in one of the pictures is seen handing his daughter Makka a birthday cake with balloons in the background.

Fans reacted with joy to the pictures on social media, with one Twitter user posting: "This is beautiful", while another added: "This is the most adorable thing I've seen all day."

And in an apparent reference to the Salah song that Liverpool fans belt out from the Kop, another tweeted: "The Egyptian princess."

Moana was a huge success, and grossed a worldwide total of $643.3m (£500.6m).

Maui is voiced by wrestler and actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the 2016 film, and is a demi-god who helps Moana save her people in a Polynesian village.

Salah will be hoping he is not relied on to save his team this weekend when Liverpool take on bitter rivals Manchester United looking to continue their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season.

The Reds are currently eight points clear at the top of the table as they look to win their first top flight title since 1990.

They face a United side who have won just one of their last five games in all competitions, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly fighting to save his job.
