Mo Farah set for last-ditch attempt at Olympics qualification

Mo Farah will make a last-ditch attempt to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics at the British Athletics Championships on June 25.

Farah was surprisingly beaten at the British 10,000m Championships earlier this month by Marc Scott and finished outside the qualifying time, afterwards blaming a slight ankle injury.

But Farah is hoping to achieve the qualifying time of 27:28 over the same distance at Manchester Regional Arena on the opening night of the national championships.

The four-time Olympic champion had initially planned to target the marathon in Tokyo but switched back to the track for one final stab at an Olympic gold on the track at the age of 38.

He looked well off his best earlier this month racing question marks about his participation in Tokyo.

Afterwards, he said: “I’m disappointed with the result. The last 10 days haven’t been great. What makes us great is being able to challenge yourself and prove it. So that is what you have got to do as the next stage.”
