Mo Farah's Geordie accent leaves I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec gobsmacked

I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec were left gobsmacked by Mo Farah's attempt at a Geordie accent.

For the second week in a row, Saturday's episode of the hit ITV show wasn't live, with another pre-recorded one going out to millions of viewers.

But while some accused ITV of not listening to complaints following the uproar last week, others were happy that Ant and Dec delivered on their promise that it would be packed full of 'loads unseen footage' rather than recaps and highlights packages of what we'd already seen.

And one of the most entertaining moments of the show saw the celebs tackle regional accents, during a discussion about the fact there were more Northerners than Southerners among them.

After Victoria Derbyshire admitted that, while she loved doing accents, she couldn't do Geordie, actress Ruthie Henshall, who had to master the North East twang when she played Mrs Wilkinson in the stage version of Billy Elliot, told her fellow campmates: "You have to think of Cheryl Cole."

Jordan North, a former University of Sunderland student, gave a decent "hello pet" but then Olympic champion Mo left viewers in hysterics with his attempt as he shouted "no man no!" before adding: "Wye aye man!" and "howay lad!"

AJ Pritchard wasn't much better as he tried to repeat the "critters in your knickers" line Ant had uttered during a trial, which of course, as any Geordies will know, is pronounced 'crittas in ya knickas'.

As the camera cut back to Ant and Dec, Dec exclaimed: Wow, wow...what can you say about Mo Farah's Geordie accent?!" to which Ant quipped: "You can say he's a dead fast runner and a lovely fella," to which Dec replied: "That's about all you can say."

Viewers at home were slightly kinder, with a number taking to Twitter to describe it as the highlight of their week and one describing it as 'adorable.'

Ant and Dec are back live from Gwrych Castle on Sunday night when another contestant will get the boot following Hollie Arnold's eviction on Friday.
