Mo Farah was left "humiliated" when he was forced to go to the back of the queue while boarding his flight home from the Rio Olympics, his wife has claimed.
The four-time Olympic champion’s wife, Tania Farah, said he was shouted at by a flight attendant who refused to acknowledge he had a business class ticket for the journey.
She claimed Farah was treated like a “piece of s***” by the airline attendant until other passengers came forward and explained who he was.
"This woman basically humiliated him until people came forward and said: ‘That’s Mo Farah, the Olympic champion’," his wife told The Sunday Telegraph.
"She was mortified afterwards, but had basically yelled at him like he was a piece of sh*t to get back into line.
“He was the only black person and hadn’t done anything to warrant it.”
The incident is alleged to have taken place on 22 August, while Farah, who retained his 5,000m and 10,000m titles at the Rio Olympics in August, his wife and their four children were waiting to board a connecting flight from Atlanta, Georgia to their home in Portland, Oregon.
Delta Air Lines spokesperson said it was investigating the situation and would be "working directly with the Farah family”. The Independent has contacted Delta Air Lines for comment.
