Mo Farah gets financial backing ahead of World Championships in Qatar

Mo Farah is edging closer to competing at next year’s World Championships in Qatar after being funded by the National Lottery for the coming season.

Farah had previously hinted September’s event could be in his sights for either the marathon or potentially a one-off track return despite turning his back on the track after London 2017. And today British Athletics performance director Neil Black admitted Farah was being financially backed with both next year’s worlds and the subsequent Olympics in the following year in mind.

Black said: “Mo has had a fantastic first year concentrating on road racing. We will continue to support Mo in his ambitions and look forward to potentially welcoming him onto the British team for the worlds as part of his preparations of the marathon at Tokyo 2020.”
