MMA match gets called off due to excessive blood, and it was as gross as you’d imagine

The term, “bloodbath,” gets thrown around in sports, but it’s rarely true in a literal sense. A match between Nicolas Dalby and Ross Houston came pretty close to making it real on Saturday night.

During Cage Warriors 106, a referee called off the fight between Dalby and Houston because of excessive blood. The match was ruled a no contest and Houston retained the Cage Warriors welterweight championship.

During the third round, the two fighters had bled so much on the canvas that they were struggling to stand, which led referee Marc Goddard to end the match due to the unstable fighting conditions. Even after the bloodshed, the two fighters appeared proud of the other man’s performance and hugged each other. They even called for a rematch to take place at UFC Copenhagen.

Here’s a look at some of the images and videos from the gruesome bout. (Darby also shared a gruesome image with explicit language.)

MMA media members and fans were stunned by the bloody performance from the two fighters.
