MMA fighter rushed to hospital with eye bulging out of socket after fight

MMA fighter Mark Martin was rushed to hospital after his eye was left bulging out of the socket after his defeat.

Martin fights in MMA promotion PFL and was defeated by Dilano Taylor after a doctor stopped the fight between the first and second round.

The event was PFL Challenger Series 2 which took place at the Universal Studios in Orlando and seeked to determine some of the promotion's best talent.

However Martin was left severely damaged after the fight with the doctor entering the cage to check Martin's eye, which almost immediately led to the stoppage of the clash.

His eye was visibly puffy on initial review, but pictures then showed it profusely bulging out the eye socket with speculation suggesting it may have also led to a fractured orbital bone.

Martin turned and faced the camera to show viewers his injury which immediately became apparent it was severe enough to warrant treatment.

As a result, the PFL star was taken out of the cage after the defeat and it was later announced that Martin had been rushed to hospital to receive treatment.

His left eye was visibly damaged and pictures were later revealed of the moment the eye was injured during the fight.

Martin landed successful shots in the opening phases of the fight and looked to be in control of the opening round early on.

But the momentum quickly swung in his opponent's favour with Taylor landing several stiff shots which immediately caused swelling to Martin's left eye.

He was later handed defeat and now holds a professional record of seven victories with two losses.

The pair both came in to the clash with an identical record as Martin looked to build on his previous experience in MMA promotions Combate Global and LFC.

His opponent Taylor held the welterweight title in promotion Titan FC and clearly carried a vast pedigree going into the fight.

The event was headlined by Brave CF champion Jarrah Al-Silawi who defeated Michael Lilly in the opening round with a huge stoppage.

It was announced after the fight that Al-Silawi had won a contract with the PFL which was stipulated before the fight and awarded after his victory.

The entire evening of action was watched by celebrity judges Tyron Woodley, Ray Lewis, and Jeremy Piven who selected Al-Silawi to earn the contract.
