MMA fighter has shoulder ripped out of its socket after refusing to tap out

Amateur MMA fighter Cole Farsaci had his shoulder dislocated and ripped from its socket after he refused to tap out in defeat at Cage Wars 52.

Farsaci was making his maiden appearance with the promotion against Jahliel Palmer at Cage Wars 52 last Friday where he was looking to begin his career with victory. The fight began at a frantic pace with both men quickly being thrown together on the floor in an explosive start to the round.

However the opening came for Palmer when he managed to get hold of Farsaci's arm and applied the kimura hold which he was able to begin tightening during the exchange. Farsaci first attempted to show a resolute defence by keeping his arm straight with Palmer sweeping to no avail.

Palmer tightened his firm grip with Farsaci suddenly in a world of bother, as his opponent came closer to a submission from his back. Farsaci spat out his mouthpiece in pain as he tried desperately to remain in the contest and refused to tap out despite his arm being torn further away from a safe angle.

Fans in the arena quickly gasped as Palmer managed to fold his arm in half with the shoulder joint being ripped from Farsaci's socket with a sickening sound. Farsaci was left squirming in pain after his shoulder was completely dislocated and the referee jumped in to halt the contest.

Palmer jumped up to celebrate his victory in the bout, while Farsaci remained unable to get up as his shoulder hung at a devastating angle. The commentary team remarked: "We don’t want to see that. He just ripped the shoulder out of the socket. We need a doctor in here pretty quick. Wow. We don’t ever like to see that happen. Oh my goodness. This is a violent sport. This is a dangerous sport.”

The referee came for heavy criticism from fans after the fight despite amateur rules stating it can only be stopped if a fighter taps or verbally declares he wants to submit. Palmer tweeted after the fight: "Cage Wars 52! A picture describes a thousand words so here’s a few from a night I’ll never forget.

What did you make of the late stoppage? Let us know in the comments section below

"First amateur MMA win and I got to watch my roommate Kyle Kahler put on a performance of the night to win his lightweight title back with an awesome finish! I’m extremely thankful to everyone of my teammates, friends and family, including the ones I’ve found at Mohawk Valley MMA and to my coach Duff Holmes.

"Words can’t explain how far beyond my imagination he’s pushed me to continue to grow and learn in and outside of the cage. Another thank you to Cage Wars for providing such an amazing platform and organisation from top to bottom for fighters and fans of the sport. Can’t wait to get back at it with my dogs.”
