MM Keeravani wins Oscar for 'Naatu Naatu': Shankar Mahadevan congratulates team RRR; calls himself a 'big fan' of MM Keeravani - Exclusive

MM Keeravani put India back on the map by bagging the coveted Oscar trophy at the 95th Academy Awards for his song, ‘Naatu Naatu’ from SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’.

Ever since his big win, wishes and congratulatory messages have been pouring in from all sides. ETimes spoke to Shankar Mahadevan who was all praise for his ‘dear friend’ MM Keeravani. He said, “It is truly a proud moment for India and the Indian film industry. I think MM Keeravani is a fabulous musician who has got tremendous knowledge and depth. This award is not only for ‘RRR’ but for all 30-35 years of hard work and sincere pieces of music that MM Kreem has created in his career. It is a well-deserved award for an outstanding musician.”

Elaborating further, he added, “’RRR’ is such an amazing and entertaining movie. The film and the entire team have got path breaking appreciations from across the board. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ is so catchy that even people from all over the world are dancing to it and enjoying it. Our music is giving happiness to the people of the world.”

“I congratulate the entire team of ‘RRR’ and of course my dear friend MM Kreem who I am a big fan of!’, Mahadevan concluded.

Keeravani celebrated winning the Best Original Song award by turning his speech into a song to the tune of ‘Top of The World’ by The Carpenters.

'Naatu Naatu' from RRR was written by Chandra Bose and it was crooned by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava to the Music composed by MM Keeravani.
