MLB The Show 25's Next Roster Update: Who's Going Diamond?

MLB The Show 25 is set to drop its latest roster update this Friday, September 12, at noon PST (3 PM EST). These updates are always circled on the calendar for Diamond Dynasty players, especially those stockpiling Live Series cards in hopes of an overall boost that instantly raises their quick-sell value on the marketplace.

Given that the update is about 48 hours away, which players do we think will hit the Diamond threshold this time around? Here are our best guesses.

Nick Kurtz

Athletics rookie first baseman Nick Kurtz is the odds-on favorite to win the American League Rookie of the Year Award this season. And rightfully so. Throughout the 2025 MLB season, Kurtz has had a ridiculous year. Here are his splits at the time of writing:

  • AVG: .300
  • H/AB: 108/360
  • HR: 29
  • RBI: 73
  • OBP: .396
  • SLG: .619
  • OPS: 1.015
  • WAR: 4.8

Those are some truly insane numbers for a player who is just breaking into the Bigs. And the team at San Diego Studio has noticed that, too. Despite being a lowly-rated Common card when he first broke in, Kurtz has since been upgraded to an 80-rated Gold. And I expect him to possibly hit Diamond this Friday — he’s deserving of it.

Cristopher Sanchez

Cristopher Sanchez has been a consistent anchor for the Phillies on the mound since the 2023 season. But in 2025, the Dominican power-pitching starter has truly leveled up. In 28 starts this season, Sanchez has boasted a 2.60 ERA, 186 strikeouts, and a WHIP of just 1.117, all combining for a 6.7 WAR, the second-most among all pitchers this year. His 170 ERA+ is also good for fourth-best in Major League Baseball this season.

Granted, Sanchez hasn’t been as dominant in the last several weeks as he has been all season. That said, he’s currently sitting at an 84-rated Gold in MLB The Show 25, and that’s too low.

Freddy Peralta

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has been perhaps the most elite pitcher not named Paul Skenes in 2025. As of right now, Peralta is tied for the most wins by a pitcher in baseball with 16, alongside the New York Yankees duo of Max Fried and Carlos Rodon. Yes, wins don’t mean as much as they used to mean to baseball nerds. However, the other stats are equally as elite and back that number up.

Through 29 starts and 158.2 innings pitched, Peralta has a 2.50 ERA, 1.071 WHIP, and a 5.4 WAR. He is also leading MLB in H/9 with 6.2 hits allowed per every 9 innings pitched. Essentially, he’s top-5 in almost every reputable stat in baseball right now. And he’s been absolutely untouchable over the last month, and hasn’t given up an earned run since his game against the Braves on August 5.

Peralta is elite. And his 81-rated Gold card doesn’t do him justice at all.

George Springer

The Toronto Blue Jays’ right fielder, George Springer, is putting together what could be a career-best year at the plate. At the time of writing, he’s hitting for a .300 AVG with 128 hits, 28 HRs, .393 OBP, .550 SLG, and a .943 OPS. And he’s doing all of this at the age of 35 (he’ll be 36 next week).

On top of that, he’s been one of the hottest hitters in baseball, hitting .337 over the last 30 days. Overall, Springer has played a massive part in the Blue Jays becoming a genuine World Series contender this season, and he deserves some Diamond recognition for it.
