MLB The Show 25: June Spotlight Program Guide

June Spotlight Program Week 3 is a letdown after Week 2, but not every week can have Roman Anthony and Jacob Misiorowski. This is a batch of cards where the best one is likely to be (another) 3B, this time Spotlight Nolan Arenado.

The good news is that the free card is probably the best card, which is relatively rare with the Spotlight program. Nolan Arenado has plenty of fans, and even if we have a ton of great 3B, Arenado slots in as a perfectly valid top-five player at the position. We don’t get to say that very often with any part of this program.

June Drop 3 Spotlight Cards

Getting a Brady House card is fun since it’s another debut player, and Brooks Lee likely slots in as a low-end top 10 option at SS, but otherwise I don’t see much to write home about in this set of cards that are available in the Show Store.

June Spotlight 3 Stat Missions

  • 750 PXP with June Drop 3 players
  • 5 strikeouts with Topps Now Clarke Schmidt
  • 2 home runs with Topps Now Christian Moore
  • 3 XBH with June Spotlight Drop 2 Evan Carter
  • 8 total bases with New Threads Rafael Devers
  • 5 home runs with primary 3B
  • 7 XBH with primary C
  • 10 strikeouts with primary SP
  • 19 hits with any players
  • 20 total bases with any players

June Spotlight Program 2

June Spotlight Program Week 2 is an exciting one as we’re getting looks at a couple top prospects who just reached in the majors in Jacob Misiorowski and Roman Anthony.

This is arguably the point of the Spotlight program — get us our first look at exciting players making their debuts — but it doesn’t always work out like that because it counts on MLB teams promoting their best players.

Among the free cards, obviously it’s worth scoping out Roman Anthony because he’s the top prospect in baseball. I don’t think his ratings are earth shattering on this card, but it’s still something I feel like you’ll want to check out just to see what the buzz is about. Evan Carter is technically the top reward in the free part of the program, and he’s his usual fast self.

June Drop 2 Spotlight Cards

Among the Spotlight cards in the store pack, Spotlight Jacob Misiorowski is obviously the one that will get all the attention — and rightfully so. He gets outlier on his fastball and slider, and people want to see how dominant this power arm feels on the mound. He’s going for 50K at launch, and I suspect that price will have staying power.

June Spotlight 2 Stat Missions

  • 750 PXP with June Drop 2 players
  • 5 hits with Topps Now Otto Kemp
  • 3 XBH with Topps Now Roman Anthony
  • 3 home runs with Spotlight Drop 1 Hunter Goodman
  • 4 home runs with primary shortstops
  • 13 hits with primary outfielders
  • 7 IP with primary SP
  • 15 strikeouts with any pitchers
  • 15 runs with any players

June Drop 1 Spotlight Cards

The two free cards worth scoping out are the Topps Now Jac Caglianone and Spotlight Hunter Goodman. Caglianone is a low-end 1B option with a very solid bat who does not need to be platooned. There are so many options at corner OF and 1B, but it’s better than usual for a Topps Now hitter.

Spotlight Hunter Goodman is just a downright good catcher and worthy reward for finishing Week 1. He has 70 speed, and while the defense isn’t great, he does not need to be platooned and his weaker side still has 88 contact and 90 power (against lefties). He also has 105 clutch and can play 1B or corner OF if you don’t want him at catcher.

It’s a good and bad thing here where I don’t think the top two cards are really worth your time, so at least it saves you some Stubs. I like Rasmussen’s Live Series for Battle Royale at time, but him and Pasquantino don’t have amazing ratings.

However, Tim Elko sports 97 power vs. RHP and 107 power vs. LHP and has 3B eligibility beyond his 1B primary. The vision is low and the clutch is 92, but he’s a card that could clean up on All-Star, and the White Sox need some wins, okay? Otherwise, Ceddanne Rafaela is a little fun with insane defensive ratings (and 2B and SS eligibility beyond primary CF) but with only 85 speed he might not be quite worth throwing in a niche all-defense lineup.

June Spotlight 1 Stat Missions

  • 750 PXP with June Drop 1 players
  • 250 PXP with Topps Now Caglianone
  • 400 PXP with Topps Now Colton Gordon
  • 3 HRs with primary catchers
  • 6 RBIs with primary shortstops
  • 4 SBs with primary IFs
  • 14 strikeouts with any pitchers
  • 17 hits with any players
