MLB The Show 25 Drops New Twenty In June Program—Features One of the Best Hitters in the Game

Another Friday has come. And as usual, MLB The Show 25 has provided a brand new program for Diamond Dynasty players to grind for. And the ultimate reward of completing the program is more than worth the time you’ll spend on it.

As the title suggests, Twenty In June celebrates the legendary feat of Sammy Sosa, who hit 20 home runs in the month of June back in 1998, an MLB record that still stands to this day. Unbelievably, Soda didn’t win the home run title that year, with Mark McGwire hitting a then-record 70. Sammy finished with 66, a number that would’ve still been good enough to break the previous record of 61.

Who Headlines The Twenty In June Program?

The headliner reward for completing the Twenty In June program is a 95-rated Sammy Sosa card, easily one of the best hitters in the game right now. As one could expect, Sammy is great at everything when it comes to hitting. Here are his main attributes when at the dish:

  • 100 Contact R
  • 92 Contact L
  • 125 Power R
  • 102 Power L
  • 60 Vision
  • 36 Discipline
  • 101 Clutch

As has been the case with past Sosa cards released, Sosa possesses what MLB The Show players would call “reverse splits”, meaning that he hits better against righty pitchers, despite being a righty himself. However, he is still more than good enough to mash lefties as well. The 60 Vision could prove to be troublesome on higher difficulties, but if you square a pitch up, it’s likely not coming back regardless.

On the defensive side of things, Sosa is usable in his primary right field position (he has center field as a secondary, but that wouldn’t be a wise spot for him). Here are his defensive attributes:

  • 71 Fielding
  • 85 Arm Strength
  • 83 Arm Accuracy
  • 62 Speed

So long as Sosa is played in his primary position at right field, he’ll play just fine. Sure, he won’t be winning a Gold Glove any time soon, but he should reasonably make some stops. The 62 speed could be a problem, but the decent reaction attribute should mitigate that.

What Other Rewards Are Available In Twenty In June?

Like all other programs, the headliner card isn’t the only thing that players will earn when completing Twenty In June — a bunch of packs and XP-related rewards are available as well. Here’s a full list of every reward earned through the Twenty In June program:

  • 2000 XP (4 Stars)
  • Show Pack (8 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (12 Stars)
  • Show Pack (16 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (20 Stars)
  • Show Pack (24 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (28 Stars)
  • Show Pack (32 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (36 Stars)
  • Show Pack (40 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (44 Stars)
  • May Spotlight Drop 4 Pack (48 Stars)
  • 2000 XP (52 Stars)
  • Show Pack (56 Stars)
  • 3000 XP (60 Stars)
  • Show Pack (64 Stars)
  • 3000 XP (68 Stars)
  • Show Pack (72 Stars)
  • 3000 XP (76 Stars)
  • Show Pack (80 Stars)
  • 3000 XP (84 Stars)
  • Show Pack (88 Stars)
  • 4000 XP (92 Stars)
  • May Spotlight Drop 4 Pack (96 Stars)
  • June 1998 Spotlight Series Sammy Sosa card (100 Stars)

In total, ten Show Packs, two May Spotlight Drop 4 packs, and 35,000 XP will be earned throughout the program, in addition to the aforementioned Sammy Sosa Spotlight Series card. It might not seem like much, but the XP gains and May Spotlight packs should sweeten the pot a bit. Expecting either of the Spotlight packs to result in a pull of either Gavin Sheets or Isaac Paredes — the two most valuable cards in the packs — is a bit of a pipe dream, but Diamond Dynasty squads are built on hope.

How To Complete The Twenty In June Program

Unlike other programs, San Diego Studio isn’t allowing the Diamond Dynasty player base in MLB The Show 25 to complete the Twenty to June program at their own pace. Instead, SDS will be dropping Moments and Missions periodically throughout June that players will need to complete in order to complete it. For now, players can earn up to 16 Stars by completing the following objectives:

  • “First of Twenty” Moment (Hit 1 Home Run)
  • Hit 20 HRs with right fielders
  • Hit 20 HRs with Chicago Cubs players
  • Tally 1998 PXP with Chicago Cubs players

We’ll keep this updated as more Missions and Moments are released.
