MLB surprises through the first quarter of the 2020 season

The Houston Astros were at least expected to contend for a playoff spot in the shortened 2020 MLB season, even if Justin Verlander was out.

But they’ve struggled out of the gate a quarter of a way through the season. And who’s up there ahead of them in the AL West? The Oakland A’s!

Among the other surprises: Charlie Blackmon could make a run at hitting .400 and one unknown pitcher who used to drive for Uber and Lyft while he was in the minors has come out of nowhere for the Minnesota Twins.

Our Charles Curtis fills you in above on those surprises thus far.
