MLB season opener: How to watch Mariners vs. Athletics on Wednesday

The 2019 Major League Baseball season is finally here, and while fans of most clubs will have to wait until Opening Day in the United States on March 28th, the Mariners and Athletics will kick off the regular season with a two-game series at the Tokyo Dome.

Mariners legend Ichiro Suzuki, now 45, will be in the starting lineup for the Mariners on Wednesday, as he begins his 19th year in Major League Baseball. It’s been speculated that Ichiro could retire after the series in Japan, but he said last year after stepping away from a playing role that he’ll only feel the need to retire when he starts “using a cane.”

Fans hoping to catch the official start of the season will have to wake up early, with games starting just before 7:00 p.m. local time in Tokyo. So, when should you tune in?

Mariners vs. Athletics will begin at 5:35 a.m. ET on ESPN Wednesday.

You can stream the game online via WatchESPN or by using the ESPN app.

Marco Gonzales will get the opening day start for Seattle, and Mike Fiers will take the mound for Oakland.
