MLB players are changing their Twitter avatars in solidarity as lockout starts

The 2021 Major League Baseball lockout has begun, with the MLB world wondering how long this latest works stoppage is going to last.

The difference here? There’s social media, so there’s all kinds of reaction we’ve seen from fans and players. Everyone’s buzzing about MLB.com and how weird the website is now that the lockout has begun and the league can’t use player photos, names and likenesses to promote anything.

We highlighted it in our roundup of player reaction, but let’s concentrate on it here: Some pitchers have already changed their avatars/profile pics on Twitter to reflect what their photos look like on MLB.com (which are a bunch of generic blank avatars).
