MLB fans loved Shohei Ohtani’s frowning reaction to not getting a strike call from the ump

Tuesday night was somewhat of a Tungsten Arm O’Doyle performance for Shohei Ohtani. He went seven innings and looked dominant, but he allowed three runs on six hits — enough for the Angels to lose, 3-1, to Houston. Yet, Ohtani never fails to entertain MLB fans, and Tuesday was no exception.

Pitching in the sixth inning against the Astros’ Corey Julks, Ohtani looked to get ahead in the count with a fastball on the outside corner. The 98 mph pitch was just off the plate, though, and home plate umpire John Libka called the pitch accurately as a ball.

Still, Ohtani really thought he was getting that call and had the most delightful way of showing his disbelief.

Poor Shohei. He looked genuinely disappointed there. How are you saying no to that face?

Julks would ultimately ground out in the at-bat, so the call didn’t have much of an impact. But fans still enjoyed that moment from Ohtani. You can’t blame them either. He’s so fun.
