KOCHI: Anjali Reema Dev, third accused in the Pocso case registered in connection with alleged sexual assault of a mother and her minor daughter at No18 Hotel, appeared before the investigation team for questioning on Wednesday. Addressing the media, Anjali claimed that the wife of an MLA was providing support to the complainant in the case against her.
“The wife of an MLA is providing financial and mental support to the complainant. Based on that I’m facing threats that more cases will be foisted against me. As a business consultant, I know some confidential data of my clients and I haven’t disclosed it to anyone. But knowing such truths has become a threat to my life. Also, a non-banking financial company had offered me directorship, which I refused as they were involved in money laundering,” she said.
Anjali said that a builder was supporting the people opposing her and she is a victim of character assassination. She said that many persons, who were made to invest in projects with an offer of good returns, were cheated by them. She alleged that such persons were offering support to the complainant. She said that those who support the complainant wanted to trap her so that the details about them will not see the light of the day. She added that she will provide the details of all those, who were involved in the bid to trap her, to the police.
Earlier, first accused Roy Vayalat (hotel owner) and second accused Syju Thankachan had received bail in the case on Monday. Kochi police had registered a case under various sections of IPC, Juvenile Justice Act and the Pocso Act. Some of the key allegations were that the complainant and her minor daughter, along with two women, were brought to Kochi on the pretext of a business meeting by Anjali and Roy misbehaved with the complainant and her minor daughter then.
