Carabao Cup 2019/20
Venue: Stadium MK
Date: Wednesday, 25 September, 2019
Kick-off time: 7:45pm BST
Liverpool's Carabao Cup campaign kicks off on Wednesday night with a trip to Milton Keynes to face MK Dons.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds have made a perfect start to the Premier League season with six wins from six, with the only blot on the copy book a 2-0 Champions League loss at Napoli.
While Liverpool have bigger ambitions this season, the Carabao Cup comes at a valuable time for Klopp to rotate his squad ahead of a long campaign.
Team news and predicted lineups
Liverpool's starting line-up is expected to feature a considerable number of changes from Sunday's 2-1 win at Chelsea, and there could be debuts for some youngsters.
Other youngsters who could be given debuts are 20-year-old goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, and Harvey Elliott, the 16-year-old midfielder signed from Fulham over the summer who last season became the Premier League's youngest-ever player.
Winger Xherdan Shaqiri has been ruled out by a small tear in his calf, but midfielder Naby Keita, who has been sidelined for seven games by a groin issue, is fit to make his return to action, while Sadio Mane (knock), Divock Origi (calf) and Alisson Becker (calf) are unavailable.
Liverpool XI: Kelleher; Hoever, Lovren, Gomez, Milner; Lallana, Keita, Wijnaldum; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Brewster, Jones.
Prediction: MK Dons 0-3 Liverpool
Even with a much-changed lineup, it is difficult to look beyond a routine Liverpool win.
The Reds have the quality in midfield and attack, with Brewster likely to torment the Dons' defence.
