AIZAWL: After occupying the top slot among the eight northeastern states for over two months for reporting the highest number of new Covid-19 cases, Mizoram has climbed down to the second position, below Assam.
In the last 24 hours, the state on Monday recorded 165 less daily cases than Assam, which logged 212 fresh cases.
With the number of cases dipping, the state began the process of unlock from Sunday and will be in place till November-end. After a gap of almost six months, schools reopened from Monday for students of classes 10 and 12, who will appear for the board examinations.
The state contributed 32.54% of the total number of daily cases reported in the northeast region, the lowest ever in the last two months. But it still contributed 61.31% of the region's active cases as on Monday morning, according to the ministry of health and family welfare.
