Mixed fortunes for promotion rivals, Bielsa transcript, Revie claim and this morning's Leeds United headlines

Leeds United are back in action this evening when they visit Middlesbrough aiming for a third win in a row.

But before that, here is a look at the latest Leeds United headlines...

Mixed fortunes for promotion rivals

League leaders West Bromwich Albion continued their impressive form on Tuesday night and moved seven points clear at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Preston North End.

Their latest win over a Preston side that ended the game with 10 men sees them remain 10 points clear of Nottingham Forest, who moved up to third with a 1-0 away victory over Cardiff City.

Brentford missed out on the chance to move to third and now sit in fifth position after a surprise 2-1 defeat away at Luton Town.

Leeds can reduce the gap on West Brom to four points if they win away at Middlesbrough tomorrow, whilst Fulham could move back to third and within two points of the top two if they beat Swansea City and Leeds lose at the Riverside Stadium.

For a number of sides in and around the play-off places, it was a disappointing evening.

Whilst Forest earned victory, the same could not be said about Brentford, Preston or Bristol City, who all fell to defeats.

Blackburn Rovers could climb up to seventh and within two points off the play-off places with a win over Stoke City tomorrow, whilst Swansea City could also move to within two points off the top six if they win away at Fulham.

Millwall could rise to as high as eighth tomorrow and four points away from the play-offs with a win over Birmingham City.

Bielsa transcript

Marcelo Bielsa held his pre-Boro press conference on Tuesday lunchtime, fielding questions on injuries, Kalvin Phillips and more in a good natured briefing with the media.

Carragher's Revie claim

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has issued a remarkable verdict on Don Revie's Leeds United, suggesting the biggest memory of his side was losing big matches.

As part of Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, 12 of the greatest club teams in English football over a three-year period were identified - including Leeds from 1968-71.

Here's what he said.
