Mittal family scion to raise $5m for healthy food business

Entrepreneur Sakshi Chhabra Mittal is closing in on a $5m first investment round for her clinically-approved healthy meals subscription delivery business FoodHak.

Founder/CEO Sakshi - a member of the billionaire Mittal Indian family dynasty - has landed Brent Huberman’s vehicle firstminute Capital as a hero investor alongside angels including Mervyn Davies, Jim Mellon, Jeanette Furstenburg, Nikesh Arora and Jeremy Coller.

Mother-of-two Sakshi developed the business after falling ill with a liver disease which she beat through transitioning to a vegan based diet. FoodHak is at the intersection of technology, sustainability, food science and health.

Combining clinical research data and machine-learning, it helps its chefs as they build disease-targeted recipes and a planned personalised nutrition tool for consumers wanting to transform their lives.

UK-wide subscribers, whose number is growing by 25% every week, receive a weekly box with premium, fine, ready-to-eat meals for the week, created in consultation with medical experts.

The foods are low GI, anti-inflammatory, alkaline, free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar.

Sakshi said: “I am delighted to bring on board a wide spectrum of investors who believe in the power of food science and want to help fuel this food revolution. It’s a great testimony to the product too.“I developed a liver disease when I was pregnant with my first child. I changed my diet, turned flexi-vegan and it transformed my life and health. With FoodHak, I want to inspire others to do the same, to feel healthier and hopefully extend their lives.
