Wellington Street scaffolding incident: Man in 30s rushed to hospital after fall in city centre

A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital after falling from scaffolding in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services raced to the scene on St Vincent Lane shortly after 7.30am this morning.

Wellington Street was subsequently shut down by police following the incident.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the man is in Glasgow Royal Infirmary after being attended to by critical care paramedics.

A spokesperson advised: “We received a call at 0738 hours to attend an incident on St Vincent Lane.

"We dispatched our special operations team, a paramedic response unit, one ambulance and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

"We transported one male patient in his 30s to Glasgow Royal Infirmary."

 Police Scotland earlier confirmed: "A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Around 7.45am on Tuesday, 26 October, officers were called to a report of a man fallen from scaffolding in St Vincent Lane in Glasgow City Centre.

"Emergency services are at the scene at this time."

Wellington Street has subsequently been re-opened.
