Hannah Montana alum Mitchel Musso has hit back after Miley Cyrus claimed he was one of multiple stars who smoked marijuana while on the set of the TV series.
Miley made the claims during a recent appearance on her mum Tish Cyrus’ podcast Sorry We’re Cyrus, saying Mitchel — who portrayed the character of Oliver on the beloved Disney Channel sitcom — joined her dad Billy Ray Cyrus in smoking pot on set.
“Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it,” Miley said when asked about a “core memory” from her time filming Hannah Montana.
“It’s hilarious,” she added. “He wasn’t sharing.”
Miley then joked that her dad wasn’t the only one fond of a toke, saying “it was both” Billy and Mitchel who partook in the on-set pastime.
“It was Mitchel Musso,” Miley said. “It was both.”
With all this alleged smoking going on, I guess it now makes sense why no one could tell that Hannah was just Miley in a lousy excuse for a wig?
In any case, Mitchel has now come forward to clear the (smoke-filled) air, denying Miley’s claims in a statement to E! News and saying remembers things a little differently… but not because he was high.
“Well, that’s not how I remember it,” Mitchel said.
The actor then alluded to airing more secrets from behind the scenes of Hannah Montana, all-but dashing my childhood dreams that the show was nothing but a Hoedown Throwdown.
“However, I’ve got plenty of stories from those years that might be worth having a conversation about,” Mitchel said.
“If we’re revisiting Hannah Montana history — just say the word.”
My inner-child would love for the show to remain a nostalgic fantasy, but my gossip-loving side simply needs to know what exactly Mitchel is alluding to.
Concluding his statement, Mitchel said that despite Miley’s claims, there’s no bad blood between him and his former co-star.
“All love to Miley and the fam,” he said. “Even when the rewrites get this creative.”
It comes amid news that Miley and Billy have reconciled after months of feuding, but it’s not thought that a communal joint was responsible for their newfound warm and fuzzies.
