
A man has died after being hit by a marked police car on a 999 call in southwest London.
The Metropolitan Police said the victim, believed to be aged in his 60s, was walking along Western Road, Mitcham, when he was struck at 11.30am on Wednesday.
He was treated by paramedics and a doctor from London's air ambulance but was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: "His next of kin are in the process of being informed.
“The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified as is routine.”
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed of the man's death.
Several roads in the area have been closed.
