Mitch Wishnowsky ‘Madden 20’ rating adjusted after big hit vs. Broncos

Who says preseason doesn’t matter? 49ers punter Mitch Wishnowsky turned Monday night’s game against the Broncos into an opportunity to bump his Madden rating up.

While he had a fine night kicking the ball, his best play came on a kickoff in the third quarter after the 49ers’ second touchdown. Broncos return man Devontae Jackson found some daylight in the middle of the field, but Wishnowsky quickly slammed the door with a perfect form tackle.

The hit led the 49ers’ social media team to inquire with EA Sports about an uptick in Wishnowsky’s 36 tackle rating on ‘Madden 20.’ They obliged after review.

Wishnowsky saw his tackling jump to 41, and his hit power moved up to 60.

Hopefully the 49ers won’t need Wishnowsky to make a ton of tackles. That’s the job of the coverage team. However, knowing the punter isn’t afraid to stick his nose in should a returner break free is a nice bonus.

Wishnowsky was a fourth-round pick out of Utah and a former Australian-rules football player, which helps explain his tackling prowess.

San Francisco gets a chance to see their punter and kickoff specialist work again Saturday night in Kansas City.
