Mitch Wallis has decided to stick with the Western Bulldogs for at least another AFL season despite falling out of favour in 2021 and being overlooked for the grand final.
Bulldogs vice-captain Wallis made just six appearances this year, with his last game coming in round 17.
The 28-year-old couldn't force his way back into the side for the finals, and wasn't even an emergency for the grand final, which the Bulldogs lost to Melbourne by 74 points.
Talk of Wallis potentially moving elsewhere to gain greater opportunities was put to bed on Wednesday when he signed a one-year contract extension, tying him to the club until the end of 2022.
Wallis has played 157 games since being snared as a father-son selection in the 2010 national draft, and he's optimistic he can force his way back into the side.
"I'm going to embrace the challenge of improving elements of my game, as I feel I have a lot to contribute towards the on-field success of the club moving forward," Wallis said.
"I also want to continue to help motivate my teammates to become the best versions of themselves.
"It's been amazing to watch my younger teammates develop over recent seasons. I feel I can help guide them to new heights in the future."
