Mitch Trubisky led the NFL in this impressive stat in 2018

Mitch Trubisky still has a lot to prove. Whether it was his inconsistency in the first half of last season or the shadow of Patrick Mahomes that will follow him throughout his career, he hasn’t necessarily garnered respect from around the NFL.

Among other things, Trubisky has often been criticized for his deep-ball accuracy. Sure, he missed his share of open receivers for what would’ve been sure touchdowns. But this one stat argues that Trubisky had success with the deep ball last season.

Trubisky led all quarterbacks with 50-plus yard completions, by air distance, in 2018, with six.

As for the rest of the league, Kirk Cousins, Deshaun Watson, Case Keenum, Russell Wilson each had 5. Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger all had 3.

Ultimately, this whole “Trubisky can’t throw the deep ball” narrative are inaccurate. It’s not his inability to throw the football, it’s a need to perfect his fundamentals that should sort all of that out.
