Mitch Rose ready to get the drinks in for Cambridge United pal if he helps save Notts County

Mitch Rose will get the drinks in for his Cambridge United pal Reggie Lambe if he can help save Notts County’s Football League status.

The Magpies need a favour from Colin Calderwood’s side this weekend as they travel to Macclesfield who only need a draw to survive the drop.

But a defeat for the Silkmen allied with a win for Notts at Swindon will keep the Magpies in League Two in what would be a miraculous ending to a gruelling season.

While Lambe has been given the rest of the season off due to his involvement in the Gold Cup with Bermuda, Rose hopes he can help fire up his teammates.

“I’ll be sending Reggie a message this week telling him that he better do a job for us,” he said.

Alan Hardy takes responsibility for Notts County's nightmare season

“I’ll buy him an expensive drink if he gives us a hand this weekend.

“It would be more than just a bottle of champagne as well.

“But in all seriousness, we’ve got to do our own job and then we will see what happens.”

Rose is hoping for some assistance from Cambridge’s Lambe with the pair having become friends during their time at Mansfield.
