Mitch Rose can't wait to ring the Notts County doubters as he targets miraculous Great Escape

Mitch Rose is determined to prove Notts County’s doubters wrong by inspiring them to greatest escape in the club’s history.

The Magpies travel to Swindon on Saturday knowing they need a victory and a defeat for Macclesfield to ensure they remain in the Football League.

Rose is adamant that Notts can enjoy a dream scenario on the final day despite the odds being heavily against them.

And he says should Neal Ardley’s team complete the most miraculous of escapes, he will be quickly on the phone to those people who wrote Notts off when he signed in January.

“Staying up would mean everything not just to me, but the city, the fans and the players,” he said.

“When I first came here people were writing us off and I was being told that I had made the wrong decision.

“They said don’t go there, they are down. This is part and parcel of why I play football when you do a job against all the odds.

“You want to prove them wrong. I am delighted I am part of this journey and people can be sure they will be getting messages when we do stay up.

“I’ll say ‘remember you said we couldn't do it?’ I will be reminding them of that, they can be sure.”
