LUCKNOW: The special MP/MLA court on Monday rejected the discharge plea of former minister Azam Khan seeking a clean chit in a case related to the alleged misuse of official letter pad and seal. The court fixed September 12 for framing of charge against him.
Special additional chief judicial magistrate A K Srivastava passed the order on the discharge application filed on behalf of Azam.
The FIR in this case was registered with Hazratganj police on February 1, 2019. The informant, Allama Zamir Naqvi, had alleged in the FIR that Azam had misused the official letterhead and seal in order to damage the image of BJP, RSS and cleric Syed Kalbe Jawad. The informant had also claimed that under pressure of the then government, the FIR in the case was registered with delay, stated the additional public prosecutor.
Passing the order, the court observed, “On perusal of the material on record, there is ample evidence to frame charges against Azam.”
