The jury in a South Australian cold case murder trial has been discharged after a "legal error".
The trial for Matthew Donald Tilley opened in the Supreme Court on Thursday with the 48-year-old charged with the 1993 stabbing murder of Suzanne Poll.
Mrs Poll, 36, was found dead in the rear of a stationery store where she worked in Adelaide's northern suburbs.
She had suffered multiple wounds.
On the second day of the trial on Friday, the jury was discharged with a new jury to be sworn in next week.
"A legal error occurred during the course of the prosecution case on Thursday, November 4," a court order read.
"Accordingly it is necessary to declare a mistrial and recommence with a fresh jury to be empanelled on Monday."
