Missouri (1-1) vs. SE Missouri State (1-1) Game Preview
Why SE Missouri State Will Win
The Redhawks have enough of a pass rush to bother Kelly Bryant and push the Missouri offense around a little bit.
The Tiger line has been good so far, but it’s hardly been a rock allowing 13 tackles for loss and a few too many huts on the quarterback. It hasn’t been awful, but if this isn’t a focused overall effort – the SEC opener against South Carolina is up next – SEMO has just enough talent to be annoying.
At the very least, there’s a shot at enjoying decent field position for stretches. The Redhawk punting game has been far better than Missouri’s so far, and there’s good pop coming from the return game, too.
Why Missouri Will Win
Montana State just had a whole lot of fun running on the SEMO defensive front.
The passing game wasn’t working, but MSU was able to rip off big run after big run to take control of last week’s 38-17 win. The Bobcat defense was able to live in the backfield, and the offense was able to connect on enough big plays to pull away – and that’s what Mizzou can do.
The Tigers were able to rip off several big runs last week against West Virginia, but there weren’t too many big pass plays. This is the week to open things up a bit, and …

What’s Going To Happen
Considering the loss to Wyoming to start the season, Missouri isn’t going to totally blow off this game. Bryant was sharp against the Mountaineers last week, but he only threw for 150 yards. He’ll do that in the first half, and then it’ll be time to get backup Taylor Powell involved while going deep into the backfield rotation.
