Missouri KKK leader's wife, stepson indicted for his murder

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. _ The wife and stepson of a Ku Klux Klan leader killed here last month have been indicted for his murder.

The cases of Malissa Ancona, 44, of Leadwood, Mo., and her son Paul Edward Jinkerson Jr., 24, of Belgrade, Mo., were scheduled for preliminary hearings Thursday at which more details of the case could have emerged. Those hearings were canceled after both were indicted by a grand jury March 10 on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence and abandonment of a corpse.

The indictments claim that Ancona and Jinkerson, "acting alone or in concert with another," shot Frank Ancona Jr. on Feb. 9 in his home.

Officials and charging documents have already accused the pair of shooting Ancona, 51, in the head at home in his bed. Malissa Ancona blamed her son, claiming he used a 9mm handgun.

Washington County Coroner Brian DeClue told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch last month that Ancona was also shot in the head with a shotgun, and both shots came at close range.

No new details were provided in the indictments.

Frank Ancona was imperial wizard of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
