Food, drink and hospitality operator Mission Mars has secured and opened its first venue in Birmingham.
The letting was brokered by retail and leisure property consultancy, Creative Retail, on behalf of Oval Estates – owners of the Custard Factory.
Mission Mars’ first bar venue in Birmingham is at the former Air nightclub on Heath Mill Lane, Digbeth.
The deal was completed in a seven-day time frame, following a number of viewings.
Mission Mars is renowned for its innovative bar, restaurant and entertainment spaces as well as live and club venues.
This year its Bavarian-Steam-Punk inspired Albert Schloss Bar in Manchester won the Bar of the Year title at the CityLife Awards.
The new Birmingham bar and live music venue is called Zumhof Biergarten and is situated in a 12,000 sq ft 1920s former factory building.
It will feature speciality beers such as unpasteurised Pilsner and a food hut serving bratwursts and burgers alongside Rudy’s Pizza, another Mission Mars brand.
The venue opened its doors to the public on Saturday July 4.

Ed Purcell of Creative Retail, who acted for the landlord, said: “The former nightclub sits in a very prominent corner location within the Custard Factory Estate.
“The building has been vacant for nearly ten years, and it is great to conclude a letting within a matter of weeks, whilst in challenging circumstances, to a successful and proved leisure operator.”
