The Houston Texans will not be holding mandatory minicamp, which was slated for June 15-17.
Coach David Culley said via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle that the team has had “great attendance” during the offseason program and he felt the team had accomplished what they set out to do during the eight-week offseason program.
One of the winners from the Texans forgoing mandatory minicamp is quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has been a no-show for the entire offseason program, including the 10 organized team activities. With the mandatory minicamp canceled, Watson avoids paying $93,085 in fines for missing the three-day event.
Players under contract who miss minicamp are fined $15,515 for day one, $31,030 for day two, and $46,540 for day three.
The Texans aren’t the only team that has decided to cancel mandatory minicamp. The Indianapolis Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles will also follow suit.
Texans players report to training camp July 27 at NRG Stadium.
