Missing woman search sparks huge police operation at River Clyde

A major police investigation is underway to trace a missing woman from Glasgow.

Police have confirmed that they conducted a huge search operation at the River Clyde yesterday (March 28) in a bid to find missing Jessica McGuire.

Dozens of emergency service vehicles raced to the River Clyde at around 3.15pm but their search was unsuccessful and enquiries are ongoing.

Maureen Jessica McGuire, who is known as Jessica, was last seen earlier that day between 12.25am and 1.25am in Ardargie Drive, Carmyle.

The 44-year-old is described as white, 5ft 7, slim build, short brown bobbed hair, blue eyes and a pale complexion.

When last seen she was wearing a full length dark green puffa style parka jacket with a fur collar and was carrying a black bag.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 3.15 pm on Saturday, 28 March, police and fire service searched the river side in the Carmyle area in connection with a report of a missing woman.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances.”

Inspector Brian Fraser at Shettleston Police Office added: “I urge anyone who has seen Jessica since 12.25am on Saturday,  28 March, 2020 or anyone who knows of her present whereabouts to get in touch with police immediately via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 0345 of 28 March 2020."
