Missing woman Karen Murphy spotted on CCTV in Renton as police make reappeal

Police are again appealing for the public’s assistance to help trace a woman reported missing from the west end of Glasgow earlier this week.

Karen Murphy was last seen around 8pm on Monday, January 13 leaving Gartnavel Hospital on Great Western Road in Glasgow.

Enquiries have established that Karen boarded a train at Hyndland Station around 8pm, and was later seen getting off the train at Renton Station in West Dunbartonshire around 9pm.

The 53-year-old has not been seen or in contact with anyone since this time and concern is growing for her welfare.

She is described as around 5ft 4ins tall with grey/blond hair. She was last seen wearing a khaki parka-style jacket with a fur hood and black trousers.

She has previous connections to Dumbarton and West Dunbartonshire, and the Glasgow city centre area.

Inspector David Conway from Dumbarton Police Station said: “As the passage of time increases we are becoming very concerned for Karen's welfare and it is imperative that we trace her as soon as possible so that we know she is safe.

"I would ask members of the public who were using the roads in and around Renton on Monday to check their vehicle dashcam footage for possible sightings.

"In addition, I would urge anyone who may have seen Karen on Monday or any time since, or anyone who has any information on her whereabouts, to get in touch with officers immediately.

"Karen, if you are reading this, please contact us so that we know you are safe"

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 0058 of 13 January.
