A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with kidnap after police discovered a missing woman inside a car.
Police state that they received a report of a disturbance during the early hours of August 26.
North Yorkshire Police launched an urgent search for a woman as a result of the report that emerged from the Tang Hall area of York.
She was later found inside a vehicle in Leeds, reports Yorkshire Live.
Police have now confirmed that the woman is safe and well.
A man has been arrested and charged with kidnap as well as two motoring related offences. He is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on August 27.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "In the early hours of August 26, police received a report of a disturbance in the Tang Hall area of York and as a result, launched a search for a woman who was later found inside a vehicle in Leeds.
"The woman is now safe.
"A 31-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with kidnap and two motoring offences. He is due to appear at York Magistrates’ court today (27 August 2021).
"The investigation is continuing."
