Missing woman Arlene Donnelly found safe by police

The 36-year-old woman who had been missing from her family home for a week, has been found by police.

Police found Arlene Donnelly at an address in Ballymena this afternoon after a desperate video plea from her family for information.

CID had taken over the case today and the PSNI's cyber team were also involved.

Arlene's brother Greg, from Twinbrook, West Belfast, said: "We are so relieved. I had been starting to think the worst. But she's safe and the police put her on the phone to me and she was calm and said she was alright.

"Mum and I want thank everyone who responded to the Belfast Live post today. Having that support until we got the phone call really helped.

"We don't know what has gone on but the police were planning to ping her phone and suddenly we got the phone call.

"The important thing is that Arlene is safe and the police are with her, so we're going to Ballymena to see her now.

"Thanks to the PSNI officers who took our concerns seriously and everyone who made calls to help. If you knew Arlene you'd love her too and you'd understand how relieved we are."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Missing person Arlene Donnelly has been found safe and well. Police would like to thank the public for their assistance."
