Missing woman, 75, rescued after being found stuck in the mud in Cork bogland

A 75-year-old woman was rescued following a late-night search in Cork on Friday.

The pensioner was found stuck in the mud at a bog in the Ballycotton area.

Emergency services, which included the gardai, Guileen and Ballycotton Coast Guards, and Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery (CCMPSR), responded to the missing person report at around 7pm.

Drones were launched, and with heat-sensing tech they located the woman, 75, stuck in the mud in heavy bogland at around 10.30pm.

The operation then moved onto its next stage as they had to get in and reach her.

The Ballycotton team managed to navigate the difficult terrain before getting to her and administering first aid.
