Missing Sydney woman Dianne Burnes has connections in Hunter: Police

Dianne Burnes.

Police say a woman missing from Sydney has connections in the Hunter and may have travelled north.

Dianne Burnes was last seen leaving her home at Wynyard Avenue, Bass Hill, about 9.30am on Friday.

Ms Burnes told her family she was going shopping and then attending a doctor's appointment at Hector Street, Bass Hill.

But she did not return home and her family contacted police when they could not reach her.

Bankstown police are investigating and appealing for public help finding Ms Burnes.

Their inquiries have found that the 70-year-old did not attend her medical appointment on Friday.

Ms Burnes is understood to have connections in the Newcastle and Belmont areas and police on Monday expanded their appeal for information to people in the Hunter region.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 168cm tall, with long blonde hair.

She was last seen wearing a jumper and maroon jeans.

Anyone who sees Ms Burnes - or believes they know where she is - is being asked to contact police.
