Missing Scots dad of heart surgery baby spotted on CCTV as desperate family plead for him to come home

The father of a six-month-old baby recovering from open heart surgery who vanished from his home five days ago was spotted on CCTV in a nearby village.

Ross Taylor, 30, was last seen leaving his house in Mayfield, Midlothian at noon on Sunday in an “agitated” state.

Now police have received a positive sighting of him in Pathhead.

Following an appeal by his Ross’ partner Laura D’Arcy, a member of the public came forward to say they’d seen him.

A man matching his description was captured on CCTV around 1pm on Sunday, walking southwards along Crichton Road (the B6367) passing Tynewater Primary School.

Chief Inspector Arron Clinkscales, area commander for Midlothian, said: “We are now focusing our efforts on the Pathhead area and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area on Sunday afternoon to review any private CCTV and dashcam footage.”

Ross is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, skinny build, with short light brown hair. He was last seen wearing grey jeans, a black jumper and white Converse trainers

Ross and Laura’s son Lewis underwent surgery in January after being born with defects to his heart.

Police said his son’s health problems have been “traumatic” for Ross, who left home with no cash or phone.

In her appeal, Laura, 30, said: “If Ross can somehow hear this, we love you and miss you so much and we need you back safe.

“Please just come back to us. You know how much Lewis needs you.”
