Missing Scots boy, 9, who vanished from town found safe after police search

A missing Scots schoolboy at the centre of a frantic police search has been found safe.

Police officers confirmed nine-year-old Austin McGovern who vanished from Dunbar, East Lothian, last night has been traced.

Austin was last seen near Rowan Street, shortly after 7pm on Friday evening.

He was due to return home from Rowan Street to Summerfield Road, but when he failed to show up, the police were notified.

Police said earlier today concerns were growing for his welfare and urged anyone with any information about his whereabouts to come forward.

Tonight, Police thanked the public and the media for their support with their appeals.

Superintendent Arron Clinkscales said : “We are pleased to confirm that Austin has been traced and his family have been updated. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public and media for sharing our appeals.”
