Missing Scot's belongings found near loch as family grow 'increasingly concerned'

The family of a missing Scot whose belongings were found near a loch are 'growing increasingly concerned for his welfare'.

Lawrence Penswick was last seen in Babylon Road in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire at around 2.40am on Friday.

Police think the 57-year-old went to Strathclyde Country Park at some point, as some of his belongings were recovered near the south side of Strathclyde Loch.

Lawrence is described as a black male, five foot ten inches tall and of a medium build with short black hair.

When last seen, he was wearing a grey, ‘bubble’ style jacket and a dark-coloured baseball cap.

Lanarkshire Police Division released a statement on Sunday afternoon regarding his disappearance.

Anyone with information on Lawrence's whereabouts is urged to come forward.

A statement from police read: "His family are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"If anyone has any information relating to his whereabouts, or any possible sightings of him, it's asked local officers are contacted via 101, citing reference number 2311 of December 4."
