Parts of the motorcycle belonging to two Russian siblings missing in Pattaya since Sunday was found buried in a forest in tambon Huay Yai on Wednesday morning. Four people with digging tools are suspected to have fled the scene.
Local officials found parts of the black Honda ADV150 buried near Moo 9 village at about 10am on Wednesday.
A group of men with digging tools had been reported in the area at about 10pm on Tuesday.
Officials went to the location after reviewing CCTV footage showing the last known whereabouts of the people involved in the case.
When the team arrived in the forest, the four men with digging tools fled, an official said.
Sources said the area where the parts were found was near the house of a male suspect identified only as “Pong”.
Pong had been released from prison about two months ago and was feared by local residents because he was known to carry weapons. They believed he could be connected to the case.
Residents also told police that another man, identified only as “Thong”, a friend of Pong, had been seen digging in the area where the motorcycle parts were later found. He was reportedly at the site from about 5pm until 11pm on Tuesday.
The following morning, local residents said they saw both men in the area before they fled in opposite directions upon spotting authorities.
Roman Nazimova, 17, and his sister Diana Nazimova, 22, left their house at the Bristol Park Pattaya housing estate in tambon Huay Yai at 4am on Sunday and have not been seen since.
Their mother Zarina Nazimova, 40, told Huay Yai police on Tuesday that her children were wearing casual clothing and carried their mobile phones. She thought they were riding out to a convenience store.
