Police say they have found the boat of a Queensland fisherman who has been missing off the Fraser Coast for three days.
Paul Brazier, 37, was reported missing on Wednesday after he failed to return from an overnight boat trip.
The 37-year-old departed near Hervey Bay on Monday afternoon for an overnight fishing trip, but has been uncontactable since failing to return home.
Hervey Bay Police Sergeant Jules Tyson said an aircraft identified what looked like an overturned boat near Rooney Point, on the northern tip of Fraser Island, at about 10:00am on Thursday.
Water police raced to the scene and on Friday afternoon, Sergeant Tyson confirmed it was Mr Brazier's boat.
The search was suspended at nightfall on Friday, but is expected to continue in the morning.
On Thursday, Sergeant Tyson said Mr Brazier's family had not heard from him since he left.
"Both police and family have been attempting to contact him via his mobile phone," he said.
"We've been advised that he had sufficient food and water on board, and at this stage we're hoping that it's a simple case that the vessel is broken down and he's not in a mobile service area."
On Thursday, his family has gathered at Hervey Bay Marina, where the search by multiple agencies was being coordinated.
Sergeant Tyson said Volunteer Marine Rescue vessels from Hervey Bay and Bundaberg, and planes and helicopters from Bundaberg had been involved in the search on Thursday.
The Bundaberg-based Lifeflight Rescue Helicopter also joined the search for two hours on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Brazier's boat is a white 2002 Yalta 5.4 metre half-cabin powerboat with registration NE852Q.
Police have asked anyone who may have seen Mr Brazier or his boat to contact them.
